Being Normal…Weight, That Is

Dr. Amy Givler, a family physician in Monroe, LA, and author of Hope In the Face of Cancer, relates how she lost weight and improved her health on a keto diet. Not only did her health improve, it changed how she relates to her patients about nutrition and weight loss.

A powerful testimonial and well worth the read.

How to Save Star Wars

I don’t know if this idea will fly, but something needs to be done…

Love it, hate it, or somewhere in between, “Solo: A Star War Story” is not doing well at the box office. Word is that it’s performing poorly enough that Disney (owner of Lucasfilm) might be rethinking its All-Star-Wars-All-the-Time strategy…

…Disney seems to think that the secret to Star Wars is big budgets, big marketing, big releases, big special effects, and big toy sales. But there’s only so much big to go around, and it’s clear that Disney doesn’t understand that. Did they learn nothing from the prequels?

Read the whole thing, of course.

The incredible, edible egg

We have been told for years that we need to reduce the cholesterol in our diet to improve our cardiovascular health, and therefore to avoid foods with cholesterol like eggs, dairy products, and red meat. Here is another study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, contradicting this misinformation. The results:

People with prediabetes or T2D who consumed a 3-mo high-egg weight-loss diet with a 6-mo follow-up exhibited no adverse changes in cardiometabolic markers compared with those who consumed a low-egg weight-loss diet. A healthy diet based on population guidelines and including more eggs than currently recommended by some countries may be safely consumed.

So, eat all the eggs you want…
