Over the past year or so, complaints from some Native Americans have prompted politicians and others to urge Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder to change the name of his football team, saying that the name is offensive. The President of the United States has even voiced his opinion.
Wednesday, the US Patent and Trademark Office cancelled the trademark for the Redskins, calling the name “disparaging.”
While some American Indians find the name offensive, most do not.
Should the Washington football team change its name? I am not sure how I feel about it, but if they do, this gets my vote for the new name:
